Common Omega 3 Types in Fish Oil

Fish Oil - Toxic?


Fish oil is one of the most abundant sources of omega 3 fatty acids, and probably the most common and most well-known.  We are going to talk about fish oil as well as other sources of omega-3 that you may not have heard of on this website.

Omega 3 fatty acids are essential fatty acids that your body uses for many  different functions. 
 

 

Humans cannot manufacture these fatty acids, so you must consume them in order to get the benefits.  They have anti-inflammatory and anti aging properties, help to boost immune function and more!

 

Common Omega3 Fatty Acids in Fish Oil

Some common Omega 3 Fatty Acids contained in fish oil, cod liver oil, fatty fish, and greenlip mussel oil are:

  • docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)
  • eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA)
  • a-linolenic acid (ALA)

ALA is a plant-based source of omega 3’s, and DHA and EPA are animal-based, most plentiful in oily fish, fish oil and seafood-derived oils like greenlip mussel oil and krill oil.  ALA can be converted to DHA and EPA, but the conversion seems to be limited, especially in those of poor health, so the best way to make sure you have enough DHA and EPA are to consume them directly.

Very few people today consume enough DHA and EPA.  In fact, unless you consume oily fish or a fish oil or omega 3supplement on a regular basis, it is likely you are not getting enough DHA or EPA for optimal health.  Some of the signs of omega 3 deficiency include depression, fatigue, constipation, frequent colds and heart problems.

Fish Oil and Omega 3 SupplementsStudies show that most vitamins and nutritional supplements contain toxic poisons.  Yes, that’s right, a landmark research study by the University of California and the American Nutraceutical Association showed that 97.5% of so-called “nutritional” supplements, are labeled with incorrect information and filled with toxic ingredients! (Journal of the American Nutraceutical Association).   That means that you have only a 1 in 40 chance of selecting vitamins or nutritional supplements that are both effective and non-toxic.  Toxic ingredients in vitamins and “nutritional” supplements are the rule today, rather that the exception.

 

 


So, this applies to fish oil and other omega-3 supplements - you need to make sure and do your research to find one that is actually healthy for you!
